Pablo Garcia and Carlos Diogo say their dreams have come true at Real Madrid.New Real Madrid signings Pablo Garcia and Carlos Diogo say their dreams have come true following their unveilings on Monday.
The Uruguayan arrivals vow to prove that they are worthy of a place in Wanderley Luxemburgo's side after becoming the club's first signings of the summer.
Garcia joined Los Merengues on a four-year deal from Primera Liga rivals Osasuna while Diogo made the switch across the Atlantic to sign a five-year contract from Argentine giants River Plate.
Midfielder Garcia is already well-drilled in the Madrid mantra, claiming that he has arrived at El Santiago Bernabeu with the expectation of winning every trophy on offer next season.
"This is Real Madrid and the club wants to win everything," Garcia said. "Whereas, at Osasuna, the expectations were completely different.
"I spent three very good years there, but now things have changed and the targets are much higher.
"But I am ready to defend Madrid's colours at all costs.
"This is a dream come true and I am determined to show that the club were right to place their confidence in me."
Diogo, meanwhile, admitted to thinking that the reports initially linking him to the Spanish capital outfit were a joke.
"At first, I thought it was someone playing a prank," Diogo explained.
"But then things started moving along and I began thinking what life would be like when I arrived here."
The attacking midfielder went on to pay tribute to Uruguayan legend Enzo Francescoli for recommending him to the Spanish giants.
"I am very proud that someone like Francescoli, with his history and the status with which he has held in my country, recommended me," Diogo added.
"That makes me want to try even harder to be a success.
"If I can play at five percent of the level of Alfredo di Stefano or Jose Emilio Santamaria, then I will be very happy.
"They are players that created history and are recognised worldwide."
