Atletico agree Real deal

Atletico Madrid have swooped on rivals Real to snap up Jose Manuel Jurado.

Atletico Madrid have swooped on cross-city rivals Real to complete the signing of youngster Jose Manuel Jurado.

The 20-year-old midfielder came through the youth ranks at Real and has long been talked about as one of the club's most promising young talents.

However, he has failed to make the first-team breakthrough expected of him under several managers and has now opted to move on to try and make his name.

A fee for the playmaker has not been revealed, but he has inked a four-year contract at Atletico.

Real have reserved the right to buy back the youngster at any point over the first two years of his stay at the Vicente Calderon, but Jurado now has his sights set on putting his frustrating spell at Real behind him and becoming a fixture in Javier Aguirre's (pictured) Atletico first-team.

"This is a new start for me and I hope things work out as well as possible for me at Atletico," he told Real's official website.

"It's a big step, but you have to keep your feet on the ground and whatever is meant to happen will happen. I'll take it slowly and work hard every day to see how things turn out."

Jurado becomes Atletico's eighth signing of the close season although he is unlikely to be the last with a deal for Portugal international Maniche still being discussed.
