Real Madrid hope Cicinho will be fit to return to action in March after undergoing successful surgery on his knee.
The Brazil full back tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during last weekend's win at Real Betis.
He went under the knife on Tuesday and Real are expecting the right back to be sidelined for the next six months.
"The operation was a success," Real doctor Alfonso del Corral told the club's official website.
"There is no great rush for him to return, but we hope that he will be back playing again in March."
Cicinho's future at the Bernabeu had been up for debate, amid reports that coach Fabio Capello was looking to offload the 26-year-old in January.
But, following the injury, Capello has ditched plans to sign a new full back due to the inability to move Cicinho on.
