Luciano Spalletti has rubbished rumours suggesting Roma will offload Philippe Mexes.
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has rubbished rumours suggesting his side will offload defender Philippe Mexes in the January transfer window.
The France international has recently been linked with a move to rejoin Fabio Capello at Real Madrid, with a quoted figure of é¼10 million (£6.5 million) reportedly enough to persuade Roma to do business.
It is not so insists Spalletti, who has described the former Auxerre man as indispensable to his squad.
The Italian claims he has become immune to the constant speculation of the comings and goings at Stadio Olimpico.
"We don't want to sell Mexes," underlined Spalletti.
"It's possible that someone may want him, but for us he is indispensable.
"Many rumours do the rounds, especially here, and we are used to that at Roma."
