Cassano decision in January

Antonio Cassano's Real Madrid future is to be decided in the new year.

Real Madrid director Franco Baldini has confirmed that Antonio Cassano's future will be decided in January.

There have been mixed reports as to where the 24-year-old Italy striker's future lies of late, with media sources claiming the player wants to leave and his agent insisting he wants to see out his contract.

The player was banished from training following his quarrel with manager Fabio Capello in October, but now appears to be willing to follow club rules and atone for past problems.

Yet, in all the confusion, even Baldini has admitted he does not know the player's plans.

"Antonio Cassano's future will be decided in January," he told Guerin Sportivo magazine.

"Until now, we have been trying to understand the player's intentions.

"The impression we have is that he doesn't have a clear idea yet of what he wants to do, and this doesn't help anyone.

"Cassano must make a decision and let us know if he wants to stay or go."
