Argentine striker ready to play against Spurs

Gonzalo Higuain is hoping he could be involved against Tottenham on Tuesday. The Argentine striker has made a remarkable return from injury after undergoing back surgery in January. After going under the knife Real ruled him out for the rest of the season and was one of the reasons they signed a new striker, with Emmanuel Adebayor arriving from Manchester City. But now Higuain is back and made his playing return at the weekend, and is set to be involved against Spurs. "It's a great pleasure to be in the quarter-finals with this team - more so after the injury I had where I didn't know when I would be able to return," the 23-year-old said. "To be back at this stage and be able to help the team is very important.

Thankful

"Many people said I wouldn't return this season. I heard many opinions. I tried to recover as soon as possible in order to return before the end of the season. Thanks to God I'm here. "It proved that statistics aren't everything. I'm ready to help the team and I will have to take it step by step as I get back to form." Real lost on Higuain's returning against Sporting Gijon, but he brushed this off. "The Sporting game is in the past. Now we are fighting for the Champions League and we will try to do everything we can to win it," he said. "This is a huge challenge for all of us, being at this stage of the Champions League is a big responsibility and my objective now is to help my team get through in this great competition. "We will be looking to play a great match and to win against Spurs and then defend that result in England."
