Gareth Bale insists he is happy at Real Madrid after scoring the goal which clinched a 2-0 victory against his former club Tottenham in the Audi Cup in Munich.
The Welshman had an excellent first season in Spain after he moved there from White Hart Lane two years ago.
But Bale suffered a dip in form last term which resulted in criticism from fans at the Bernabeu and that has led to speculation he might return to the UK.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, with their former captain Bryan Robson voicing his support for a potential move for Bale by his old club.
The player is adamant, however, he remains settled in the Spanish capital under new manager Rafael Benitez.
Former Liverpool boss Benitez deployed Bale in a central attacking role against Tottenham and he is keen to keep turning out in that position.
He said: “I am confident anyway but it's great to have the support of the manager and the president and hopefully I can repay them now with goals and trophies.
“I have spoken to the manager about playing through the middle. I'm able to go out to the left, the right and the centre which is what I was doing at Tottenham and what I do at Wales.
“That's where I play my best football so it's something I'm enjoying. It's my best position. I feel when I played for Tottenham I played my best football there.
“When I play for Wales I play there and play my best football so, for me, that's my position and that's where I play my best. It's where I want to play.”
