Valencia have a one-goal lead over Real Zaragoza in the Supercopa de Espana.Valencia have taken the upper hand in the Supercopa de Espana following a 1-0 first leg win at Real Zaragoza.
An uneventful first half saw the home side edge the chances, with Brazilian Savio shooting just wide of Santiago Canizares's goal.
Following the break, the Primera Liga title holders took the match to the Copa del Rey holders and made the breakthrough just after the hour mark.
Spanish international winger Vicente (pictured) hit a sublime left foot free kick around Zaragoza's wall on the edge of the area for a 1-0 lead at La Romareda.
The home side looked to get level and nearly did in the dying stages when substitute Ruben Gracia Cani hit Valencia's bar with a long-range effort from the right flank that had Canizares well stretched to keep at bay.
In the end, Claudio Ranieri's side took the one-goal lead for Tuesday's second leg encounter at The Mestalla.
