Real Zaragoza beat Valencia to clinch the Spanish Super Cup.Real Zaragoza clinched the first silverware of the new Spanish season after coming from behind on aggregate to claim the Super Cup against Valencia.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Zaragoza produced a superb display at the Mestalla to engineer a 3-1 victory that handed them their first-ever Super Cup success.
Victor Munoz's men went ahead on the night early on when Brazilian defender Alvaro beat Amadeo Carboni to knock home a Savio corner and restore parity on aggregate.
The visitors doubled their advantage just past the half hour when striker David Villa played in Luciano Galletti who beat Santiago Canizares at his near post with a fiercely-struck shot.
Valencia drew level on aggregate, although behind on the away goals rule, eight minutes after the interval when Italian striker Bernardo Corradi converted Marco Caneira's cut-back.
However, with time running out, Zaragoza made sure of victory when summer signing Javi Moreno glanced home a near-post corner to spark wild celebrations for the visitors.
