David Albelda has warned Valencia not to rush a decision on Claudio Ranieri's future.Valencia skipper David Albelda has warned the club to think long and hard before taking any decision on the future of Claudio Ranieri.
The Italian's job at the Mestalla is very much in the balance after a disappointing showing this term.
The Che have slipped out of the title race in Spain altogether over the past few weeks, and are now struggling to secure qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League.
They lie sixth in La Primera, but have not won in six league games.
Last weekend's reverse at Racing Santander has prompted many to speculate that Ranieri will be shown the door sooner rather than later, but Albelda is uncertain that would be the correct course of action.
"I look back to previous years, and experience tells you that when you maintain calmness things have turned around," he told Marca.
"You have to remember that in (Rafael) Benitez's first year, he seemed certain to be sacked after we lost at Espanyol, and we won the league after that when everybody was losing their head before.
"Cuper also had a bad time in his first weeks when they wanted him out, and he got to two Champions League finals.
"Even Ranieri in his first spell here had it bad and then won the Copa del Rey.
"This doesn't mean that it (keeping faith with Ranieri) is the solution, but neither should you take rushed decisions."
