Valencia have rekindled their interest in Benfica full back Miguel.Valencia have rekindled their interest in Benfica full back Miguel.
The Primera outfit are desperate to land a new right back ahead of the new campaign following an injury to Curro Torres.
They have been linked with a host of names, most notably Jan Kromkamp and Willy Sagnol but have failed to secure either player with the former ending up at local rivals Villarreal.
The Che were looking at Portugal international Miguel at the start of the summer but dropped their interest when they learned the 25-year-old had become embroiled in a contractual dispute with Benfica.
The player insists he is entitled to a free transfer, but the Portuguese giants claim he is still under contract having committed himself to an extension.
The matter is going to court to be resolved and Miguel's future is up in the air until a verdict has been passed.
If the player does become a free agent there will be no shortage of takers with Liverpool, Manchester United, Internazionale and Juventus all having been linked, but Benfica will demand é¼8 million if the courts find in their favour.
Valencia have dispatched a delegation to Portugal to meet Benfica officials and the player's representatives to ascertain where the matter currently lies and are hoping to put themselves in pole position for his signature.
However, the Spaniards are also monitoring Dutch internationals Andre Ooijer and Johnny Heitinga should Miguel prove too difficult a target to land.
