Francesco Tavano has apologised after saying Valencia were prejudiced.
Francesco Tavano has apologised to Valencia staff and players after claiming that the club discriminated against Italian players.
The striker joined Los Che from Empoli during the summer and has yet to appear this season, but he landed himself in hot water with comments made to the Italian press.
"Here they do not consider me," he was quoted as saying by Corriera della Sera. "I don't know the reason, but maybe Stefano Fiore was right. There are prejudices against Italian players."
Former Valencia forward Stefano Fiore, who left Valencia to join Torino in July, had stated that he felt the club were against their Italian players.
After his remarks came out into the open, Tavano was asked to explain himself by Valencia and the player has now apologised for airing his views in public.
"He has said sorry and given us his version of the story," said Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores.
"When people say things away from the club it tends to make matters worse.
"The club has forgiven him and everything is now fine.
"I have told him what I expect from him and I now hope that he will be ready soon to play a major role in the team."
