The Argentine defender has joined Atletico on a season-long loan deal, after spending last term with Alaves.
Coloccini will head back to Milan on the expiration of his stay in the Spanish capital but is not looking that far ahead.
"At the moment, I am only thinking of having success with Atletico Madrid and when this year is ended, I will have enough time for thinking of other things," said Coloccini.
The 20-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign with Alaves and proved adept in front of goal, as well as defending at the opposite end.
He cannot contain his pleasure at linking up with rojiblancos and is hopeful he can make an impact in Atletico's return to the top flight.
"Arriving in Atletico is a pleasure for me and something very important for me in the personal and professional way and I am sure that I can give lots of things to this club," added Coloccini.
"It's very important for me to play here because it means that I am improving. I come from a smaller club and Atletico is one of the biggest, so I am very proud of being in this team.
"I already know some of the players, like German Burgos. I haven't spoken too much with him yet but he told me that he will help with anything I need and that is great so I can get adapted to the club as quickly as possible."
