Atletico Madrid's Ariel Ibagaza is set to spurn the opportunity of a move to England.Atletico Madrid midfielder Ariel Ibagaza is set to spurn the opportunity of a move to England in favour of signing a new contract with the Primera outfit.
The Argentine was only a bit-part player for Los Rojiblancos when Carlos Bianchi was in charge of team affairs, but has started in each of the three games since caretaker boss Pepe Murcia took over from the sacked Argentine coach.
The player's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and it was widely expected he would seek a new challenge given his lack of action.
However, with his fortunes having now changed, his agent Alejandro Camano claims he is ready to turn his back on numerous offers from across Europe - including England - to stay in the Spanish capital.
"People are calling us from everywhere," Camano stated.
"It's possible we could resolve his situation with the club (Atletico) before the end of January, but right now Ibagaza could sign for any club he wants to and that is a fact that has not gone unnoticed.
"However, I have read what (Atletico president, Enrique) Cerezo and (chief executive) Miguel Angel Gil have said and the latter has already told Cano (Ibagaza) that he would like him to re-sign.
"When they call us we'll definitely sit down and talk to them."
