Barcelona still 100 per cent, Real lose and Valencia and Malaga win

Barcelona maintained their 100 per cent start to the season and now sit eight points clear of Real Madrid after the defending champions' stuttering form continued. Valencia picked up three points for the first time this term, while Malaga sit in second after overcoming Levante at home. Lionel Messi marked a rare substitute's appearance by coming off the bench to score twice in Barcelona's 4-1 victory away to Getafe. Thiago Alcantara struck the crossbar for Barcelona on 26 minutes before Adriano made the breakthrough for the visitors six minutes later. Argentine wizard Messi was introduced just before the hour mark and took only 15 minutes to get on the scoresheet as he converted from the penalty spot after Pedro had been fouled. Messi further increased the lead four minutes later before fellow substitute David Villa scored an injury-time fourth after Pablo Sarabia's shot had deflected off Javier Mascherano 10 minutes from time to give Getafe hope. Real Madrid have endured their worst start to a season for over a decade after slumping to a 1-0 defeat at Sevilla which leaves Jose Mourinho's side with just four points from four games. Piotr Trochowski scored the winner after just two minutes when he was left unmarked to turn the ball past Iker Casillas, while Real striker Gonzalo Higuain was fortunate not to be sent off before half-time for kicking out at Fernando Navarro, while team-mate Angel di Maria also took a swing at an opponent. Real new boy Luka Modric was agonisingly close to scoring an equaliser on 52 minutes, but his thumping 25-yard drive was tipped on to the post by the veteran Andres Palop. Alvaro Negredo then failed to make the most of a good chance for Sevilla, while Sergio Ramos somehow headed over from just a couple of yards out on 61 minutes. Valencia claimed a first win of the season after Aly Cissokho's goal secured a 2-1 home triumph over Celta Vigo, who have now lost three of their four games. Sofiane Feghouli put Valencia ahead after just four minutes and Cissokho netted decisively five minutes after half-time after Celta had earlier levelled through Gustavo Cabral. Malaga maintained their impressive start to the season after enjoying a 3-1 win at home over Levante. Javier Saviola had given Malaga a 27th minute lead before Levante were back on level terms in the opening minute of the second half thanks to Michel. Joaquin restored the hosts' advantage just before the hour and Francisco Portillo made certain of the points three minutes into stoppage-time after Malaga's Sergio Sanchez had been sent off for a second bookable offence.
