Sparta Prague and Ajax played out a 0-0 draw on Thursday.
Sparta Prague secured their first point in Uefa Cup Group F when playing out a 0-0 home draw with Ajax, while Espanyol brought Zulte-Waregem down to earth.
Zulte-Waregem started the day in top spot after two successive wins, but they were thumped 6-2 by Espanyol.
Fernal Corominas and Walter Pandiani fired Espanyol into a two-goal lead, but the visitors had the temerity to reduce the arrears on 17 minutes through Tim Matthys.
This goal sparked Luis Garcia into action and he netted twice before the break to put Espanyol in the driving seat.
Karel D'Haene scored a second for the Belgians just past the hour, but Garcia completed his hat-trick and Pandiani scored his second of the game to clinch a convincing win for Espanyol.
Ajax made the trip to Czech Republic protecting a perfect record, having beaten Austria Vienna in their first game, but they had to settle for a point on Thursday.
The Dutch outfit will be happy to have come away from Prague with a point, as they were forced to play for over 50 minutes with ten men after Urby Emanuelson was dismissed before the interval.
Sparta dominated possession in the second half, but failed to turn their superiority into goals and Zdenek Grygera conceded Ajax were happy to take a draw.
"We're happy to come out with the point given the situation," said the former Sparta man.
