Depor fell 4-2 to Real Betis, but the loss of Andrade is the bigger blow - with the specialists agreeing he will be out for between two and four months.
The Portuguese stopper had an operation in Barcelona, which placed a metal screw into his foot, yet for Depor coach Javier Irureta, all his pre-season defensive plans have been thrown into the air.
The injury occurred after a tackle with Spanish international Joaquin and Andrade commented afterwards: "What a strange thing.
"I did not think anything about it until the following day.
"The injury arrived at the worst possible time. At the beginning of the league and when I want to demonstrate what I can do to the coach.
"I'm only thinking about recovering as soon as possible.
"I'll miss the beginning of the Champions League, but I must concentrate on returning in a better physical shape than I was in before."
The injury to Andrade has seen Depor swoop for Sporting Gijon's 24-year-old defender Pablo Amo to bolster their back division.
