Nacional Montevideo are keen to start negotiations with Deportivo La Coruna for striker Sebastian Abreu, according to his agent Luis Malvarez.
Abreu is currently on loan to Mexican side America but has also previously been on loan at Nacional.
The Uruguayans were obviously impressed by what they saw and Malvarez has confirmed that they are keen to have the Uruguay international back and the player is also in favour of the move.
"Abreu wants to return to Nacional and play there next year," confirmed the agent.
"I had a meeting with the board members of Nacional and they told me there are many chances for making Abreu return to Nacional.
"Now we must talk to the board members of Deportivo about making the transfer happen."
Nacional could use the $800,000 (£452,000) they have received from Osasuna who have completed the signing of Pierre Webo to perhaps finance a deal to land Abreu.
The Spanish outfit will make two payments, the first on January 15 and the second six months later.
Osasuna have already paid $200,000 to take the player on loan in December 2001 before themselves loaning the player out to Leganes, although he failed to make a mark.
This term though he has made an impact on the Osasuna first team and the club have now decided to make the transfer permanent.
