Deportivo La Coruna are keen on signing Argentinian forward Fernando Cavenaghi.

Deportivo La Coruna are keen on signing Argentinian forward Fernando Cavenaghi.

The 22-year-old is presently plying his trade in Russia with Spartak Moscow, although it is understood that the Galicians have now opened negotiations aimed at luring him to Spain.

Cavenaghi has expressed a desire to quit Moscow this winter, and the Russian outfit are keen that the deal should be a permanent one as opposed to a loan.

Benfica are also monitoring developments, although it is believed the Argentinian would favour a move to Depor.

In his first full season as a professional footballer, Cavenaghi netted 17 goals in 23 appearances for River Plate, and Italian legend Gianfranco Zola described him as 'the only Argentine I would pay to see'.
