However, a move failed to materialise and the 28-year-old ended up staying put.
He has now been handed a fresh chance at Depor following the serious injury to Portuguese star Jorge Andrade, but is determined he will seek a new challenge come the summer given the club's treatment of him.
"As the club were negotiating my departure in January, it would be illogical to think that they are going to make an offer to extend my contract now," he stated.
"I am not thinking about the matter all. You can't forget that they were looking to sell me right until the last minute and that told me everything I needed to know.
"For now I am focusing on the present and will sit down at the end of the season and weigh up the different offers I have."
When questioned if he expected one from Depor, he replied: "I don't believe there will be one."
Speaking of his failure to leave in January, he continued: "I don't know what happened but my departure just didn't materialise in the end.
"There were offers and I did everything I could to ease a transfer I can assure you.
"In the end the club did not let me leave and did not see it as convenient to sell or loan me."
His determination to move on will encourage Bolton who are almost certain to revive their interest in the player once he becomes a free agent.
