Villarreal coach Benito Floro was happy with his team's showing despite their 1-0 Uefa Cup defeat to Torpedo Moscow on Thursday.
Igor Semshov's goal was not enough to overturn the Russians' 2-0 first leg defeat at the Estadio El Madrigal on November 6.
Floro blames Torpedo's winner on the unfamiliar conditions to what they normally encountered in Spain.
"It's a strange land with artificial turf, its cold and we made a costly error - giving away the goal," said Floro.
The Villarreal coach knew the task was never going to be easy stating: "It was never going to be a walk in the park.
"My team had chances to score, and that signifies that the team played well."
One of the only blemishes on the club's superb evening was the injury sustained by striker Antonio Guayre.
Despite the blow, Floro still has options available concluding: "Roger and Jose Mari have recovered, and I expect to play Victor."
