Villarreal took second spot in Uefa Cup Group E by thumping Egaleo 4-0.Villarreal took second spot in Uefa Cup Group E courtesy of a resounding 4-0 home thrashing of Greek minnows Egaleo.
The Spanish outfit leapfrogged Partizan Belgrade into the runners-up spot in the group after Middlesbrough beat the Serbs 3-0 at The Riverside Stadium.
In a desperately one-sided affair in Spain, Egaleo never looked like they would cause an upset and avoid the wooden spoon in the group.
The hosts were ahead on 12 minutes when Hector Font's persistence paid off as he fired beyond Mahamadou Sidibe at the third minute.
It was 2-0 before half time as Javi Venta played in Antonio Guayre and he showed great composure to finish past Sidibe.
Villarreal wasted little time in increasing their advantage in the second half as a neat passing move enabled Javi Venta to smash home on 51 minutes.
The game was put to bed on 64 minutes when Santiago Cazorla was the recipient of good fortune after Guayre's shot deflected into his path.
The Liga side will now play a team eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the knockout phase of this competition.
