Inter are on the look-out for replacements for the departing Juan Sebastian Veron.Internazionale could be lining up a swoop for Villarreal playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme after Juan Sebastian Veron reiterated his desire to return to Argentina in the summer.
The on-loan Chelsea star, now 30, is keen to see out the season and earn Inter some silverware, but admits he is itching to get back to his homeland.
"I am tired of travelling over Europe. I have been doing it for ten years and I have been away from my family for too long," he said.
"I am going to wait until the end of the current season in Italy and then I will go back home. My wish is to leave Inter with an important victory.
"Everyone at Inter deserves some success and it would be a great way for me to say thank you to them if they could achieve it this year.
"The officials are trying to convince me to stay but I am not going to change my mind."
It is believed that Inter view Riquelme as the perfect replacement, with the opportunity to play alongside compatriot Esteban Cambiasso thought to be a tempting prospect for the in-form midfielder.
Villarreal, who are sure to fight hard to keep one of their prized assets, are also trying to persuade unsettled defender Jan Kromkamp to stay at the club.
Kromkamp has played in less than half of Villarreal's games since joining from AZ Alkmaar in August and has asked to be loaned out in January, but the club have so far rejected the request, saying he is an important player for them.
