Defender Juan Manuel Pena has agreed a one-year contract extension with Villarreal.
The Bolivian's existing deal was due to expire this summer but after brief negotiations Villarreal were happy to extend the agreement by a further 12 months.
Pena revealed that he would like to have committed his long-term future to the Madrigal outfit but claims that further talks may resume before the close of the season.
"I wanted a longer contract but the club could only offer me these terms at the moment but they have said they will review the situation before the summer."
Pena has been a regular for Villarreal this season, making 16 starts for Manuel Pellegrini's side
