Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has revealed that he is hoping to extend his loan deal at Villarreal for a second season.
The Italian is already on loan at the Yellow Submarines until the end of the current campaign and, despite a two-month injury lay-off restricting the veteran to just six appearances this term, Tacchinardi is enjoying life in Spain.
He said: "I do not consider going back to Italy as I would like to stay here for another year.
"I would like to have a good run towards the end of the season because I want the team to finish as high up the table as possible."
Tacchinardi is also philosophical about failing to hold down a regular first-team place before Christmas.
"It is not unusual that if the team are playing well in the first half of the season that the coach is not going to risk changing it to fit me in," he stated.
Villarreal are currently in a bad run of form which has seen them slip to eighth place in La Liga eight points off a UEFA Champions League place.
