Italian striker to leave Villarreal when he recovers from injury

Giuseppe Rossi will only be able to secure a move back to his homeland when he has recovered from his cruciate knee ligament injury. The Italian was heavily linked with a number of Serie A clubs before he suffered the setback in April. With current club Villarreal suffering relegation from La Liga, Rossi's agent says he now hopes to secure a move in January, when the striker is hoping to return to action. Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan are all expected to rekindle their attempts to sign the former Manchester United man who has scored 54 goals in 136 appearances for the Spanish side since his move in 2007. Rossi's agent, Federico Pastorello, told the Gazzetta dello Sport: "Roma had shown an interest. "However, negotiations have proved more difficult since the player's injury. Talks will re-open once Giuseppe returns to play."
