Sander Westerveld will quit Mallorca if Miguel Moya stays at the club this summer.Former Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld has admitted he will quit Mallorca if current number one Miguel Moya stays at the club this summer.
The Dutch international joined The Islanders on loan from Real Sociedad last season but found himself watching from the sidelines for the majority of the campaign because of the form of Spain Under-21 star Moya.
Westerveld's contract with Sociedad expires at the end of the month and they have made it clear he has no future at the club.
If Moya stays at Mallorca Westerveld admits he will look to leave the Son Moix as well, but the Balearic outfit have asked him to hold fire on his decision with Deportivo La Coruna pondering a é¼5 million move for Moya.
If Depor do decide to press ahead with the transfer, Westerveld could well be handed the chance to make the number one jersey his own at Son Moix.
However, the 30-year-old insists he will not stay to play second fiddle to Moya as he wants to secure his place in the Holland squad for next year's World Cup finals.
"I could play here, but it depends on what happens with Moya," he stated.
"If he stays I can not continue at Mallorca.
"I signed to play, but Moya was first-choice and did fantastically.
"But it was the worst year of my life, a very difficult year on a professional level for me, and for the club also."
