The Seville side are desperately trying to buy a new forward before the transfer deadline, although publicly Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, the Betis president maintains his club does not need to buy.
Dani had a partial reconstruction done to his damaged ligaments in a two hour operation.
"Now he'll spend two days in hospital, then go home to rest for another week or more," said Tomas Calero, Betis' chief of medical staff.
He added: "Soon the recovery will begin, which we hope will go well and that he is in good condition as quickly as possible."
Dani has had a number of problems with his knee, dating back to a game in April and he had arthroscopic surgery in June to discover the extent of the damage to both ligament and cartilage.
