Alfonso bids Betis farewell

Real Betis have released injury-prone striker Alfonso.Real Betis striker Alfonso has bade farewell to the club and their fans after being released.
The 32-year-old spent a total of eight years at the Seville-based club over two separate spells.
The former Spain international has been plagued by injuries and Betis have rarely seen him at his best in recent seasons and have now decided to hand him a free transfer.
The hit-man plans to continue his career - although he is yet to decide where - but has spoken of his happiness during his time with Los Verdiblancos.
"I want to wish Betis fans all the very best, they have treated me marvellously," he stated.
"Apart from the injuries, which have stopped me enjoying football, my stay in Seville has been marvellous.
"I am leaving a club I will always have in my heart, an extraordinary city that I will continue to come back to and good friends who I have had some unforgettable years with."
Meanwhile, Betis are reported to have joined the race for Benfica full back Miguel.
The Portugal international is being chased by clubs all over Europe including Liverpool, Real Madrid and Juventus.
However, with UEFA Champions League football to look forward to next term, Betis are looking to strengthen and are thought to have made initial enquiries for the right back.
The player himself is growing tired of the speculation surrounding his future and has called on Benfica to end the rumours once and for all by informing him whether he will be sold.
"I don't want to hear any more rumours," he blasted.
"I have a contract with Benfica, but want a quick response from them. If a transfer is possible, okay, if not, the matter is closed."
