The former Malaga star was forced off shortly before half-time following when he fell awkwardly following an aerial challenge and subsequently spat up blood during the interval.
He was taken to the Policlinica of San Sebastian where tests revealed he had suffered damaged his left lung.
After spending the night under observation, the 27-year-old has been given the all-clear to leave hospital, but has been told he must travel back to Seville by car, rather than by plane like the rest of the Betis squad.
As a result of the international break, the player has two weeks to recover before his side's next game against Getafe on October 16 and seems certain to be available for selection.
However, he admits it was a frightening experience: "It was a chance incident, but it was not nice as I could not breath."
