Betis loan for Robert

PSV have performed a U-turn by agreeing to a loan proposal from Betis for Robert.

PSV Eindhoven have performed a U-turn by agreeing to a loan proposal from Spanish side Real Betis for Robert.

The Dutch champions said at the end of last week that they were not prepared to loan the forward even though he had failed to make an impact since his move from Atlas.

However, the club had a change of heart and decided to send the player on loan to Betis with a view to a permanent deal being struck in the summer.

Robert has a further two-and-a-half years to run on his PSV contract, but he may well have played his last game for the Eindhoven giants.

The deal will come as a relief to Betis who have been desperately scouring the market for a striker since losing Ricardo Oliveira to a serious knee injury.

The move may not be so good for Vitesse Arnhem who have set their sights on Gerald Sibon, as he could be forced to remain at the Philips Stadion in order to provide cover for Jan vennegoor of Hesselink and Arouna Kone.
