VfB Stuttgart have signed unsettled Hamburg striker Benjamin Lauth on loan.
VfB Stuttgart have signed unsettled Hamburg striker Benjamin Lauth on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old Germany international will replace Jon Dahl Tomasson, who joined Villarreal on Wednesday.
Lauth passed a fitness test at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion on Thursday and now hopes that the move will kick-start his career that has been in decline since joining Hamburg from 1860 Munich in 2004.
"Benny's situation here had simply got stuck. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that he will find his form again in Stuttgart," said HSV boss Thomas Doll.
Meanwhile Hamburg sport director Dietmar Beiersdorfer indicated that the Rothosen could be ready to land another striker before the January transfer window closes.
"We are involved in talks. Something may still happen rather quickly. We are still looking at what is possible and reasonable for the club," he said.
VfB's Swiss international Ludovic Magnin is keen to link up with Spanish side Real Betis.
The 27-year-old left-back, who is tied to Stuttgart until 2008, is frustrated about the lack of match action at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadium, where he is only understudy to rising star Serdar Tasci.
"I really hope that everything will be settled before the end of the month as I am keen to join Betis," Magnin is quoted as saying in his homeland.
