The 27-year-old has recently been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with Premiership Blackburn Rovers making the firmest enquiries for his services.
The player is currently contracted to the Galician club until June 2004, but Celta are keen to tie the former Valencia star down to a new long-term deal to ensure they don't lose him for nothing in the future.
Juanfran - who has recently forced his way back into manager Miguel Lotina's first-team plans - has said he will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to sign the new contract.
The terms on offer would increase the player's wages, and also his release clause to around £15 million.
It seemed certain that the left-back would leave during the transfer window after he admitted that he was in favour of a move from the Balaidos with Benfica and Birmingham, as well as Blackburn, expressing an interest in signing him.
