Darko keeping the faith

Darko Kovacevic is confident that Real Sociedad can avoid relegation despite their disastrous recent run of form.

The Basque outfit have taken just seven points out of the last 36 on offer and find themselves third bottom of La Primera and in the relegation places.

The club sacked coach Gonzalo Arconada earlier in the week and are now on to their third manager of the season Jose Maria Bakero.

Kovacevic is currently kicking his heels on the sidelines as he is still recovering from an Achilles injury that will keep him out for the season.

He admits he is perturbed by the club's predicament, but feels confident they will pull clear of the relegation zone in the coming weeks.

"I am worried because we have got ourselves in the relegation places, and the situation is difficult," he stated.

"But I believe in the quality of my team-mates and in the arrival of Bakero who I think will keep us up in the remaining nine weeks of the season - just as Olabe did some years ago.

"My recovery is going really well and I hope if things keep going well then I will be ready for next season.

"I am only thinking about staying at Real and staying in the Primera."
