Hellas Verona maintained their slim hopes of avoiding the drop to Serie B with a 1-0 away win over Bologna on Monday night.
Samir's goal three minutes before half-time was enough to earn Hellas only their third win of a dismal campaign.
It was something of a smash-and-grab as Bologna dominated possession and created the bulk of the chances, only to prove wasteful with their finishing.
Instead Hellas snatched the points with their only effort on target as Samir headed home from Federico Viviani's cross with half-time looming.
Victory leaves Luigi Delneri's side six points behind 17th-placed Carpi with seven games remaining.
The three points takes them to 22 points but they remain rooted to the bottom of the table, five points afrift of Frosinone in 17th.
