Balleri eyeing Livorno switch

LECCE'S experienced defender David Balleri has stated he would like to leave the club and join newly-promoted Serie B side Livorno.

The 33-year-old former Sampdoria and Padova star has been at the Stadio Via Del Mare for the past three seasons, and has revealed that his agent is currently negotiating a move to the former Serie C side.

"My agent has spoken to Livorno, I hope that we can reach a deal," said Balleri. "I have a deal with Lecce until the summer of 2003, but the general manager Panteleo Corvino said that is not a problem."

The veteran defender is vastly experienced, having made almost 400 appearances in Italian football, since making his debut for Cuoio Pelli back in the 1986/87 seasons.

Meanwhile, Serie A giants Milan are rumoured to be interested in re-signing midfielder Max Tonetto.

The 27-year-old endured an unsuccessful spell at the club back in 1999, but left to join Bologna without making a first team appearance.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly asked the experienced midfielder to play in a friendly match against Zenith at St. Petersburg, in a bid to run the rule over the star.
