The veteran striker has signed a one-year contract with the Viola after leaving Atalanta at the end of last season.
He is relishing the chance to form part of coach Cesare Prandelli's squad and was quick to agree terms with the Serie A club.
"Florence will give me the right stimulus, the one I was looking for to still feel important," Vieri told a press conference.
"I know the club have big ambitions and that plans are clear.
"The coach is a big person, in addition to being well prepared, so when Viola's offer arrived I accepted it immediately."
Vieri was happy with the supporters' reaction to his signing and is now aiming to reach a good fitness level before the start of the season.
He continued: "I must do a complete fitness preparation because I have not had a good summer for two years due to injuries.
"The supporters here have welcomed me positively.
"I know that in the last days there have been critics, but I have lived in the middle of similar things for many years and I'm confident I'll be able to convince everyone on the pitch."
