Rossoneri planning summer revamp and Bayern pair could suit

Italian giants Milan are thought to be interested in Bayern Munich defender Christian Lell and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. Lell has caught the eye with the Bundesliga pace-setters after being handed a more prominent role by Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfeld this season. The 23-year-old is contracted to the Allianz Arena until 2009 and Bayern are believed to be keen to offer him a new deal. But a proposed move to the San Siro could prove financially lucrative for the youngster, who has made 29 starts and two substitute appearances for Bayern this term, scoring two goals. Lell told Bild: "It is a great honour when you hear that such a top club is interested in you.

Sporting perspective

"But it is not just a question of money. The sporting perspective has to be right too." Bild also report that Milan are looking at Lell's team-mate Schweinsteiger, although the German international midfielder has been struggling for form this season and has spent much of the current campaign on the Bayern bench. Speculation linking the pair to Milan comes after poor campaigns both domestically and in Europe mean the Rossoneri are planning a revamp of their ageing squad this summer.
