Deal for Brazilian midfielder edges closer

Juventus have moved a step closer to signing Felipe Melo after the midfielder passed a medical on Tuesday. The Brazil international is set to move to Turin from Fiorentina, in a deal which will see Marco Marchionni head in the opposite direction. The 26-year-old is now optimistic that a transfer will be finalised in the next few days, allowing him to pen a contract with Juve. Melo has also revealed that his ambition upon his arrival at Stadio Olimpico will be to help return the Bianconeri to the summit of Italian football. He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "We have to work to take Juventus to first place. (We are aiming to win) the championship and the Champions League. "At Juventus, we can win it all, but we will have to work for it."
