Massimiliano Allegri has reiterated Ronaldinho will stay at AC Milan by stressing his importance to the team.

San Siro boss hails quality of veteran playmaker

AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has reiterated that Ronaldinho will stay with the club by underlining his importance to the squad. The star playmaker, who arrived at the San Siro from Barcelona two years ago, has been linked with a move to his native Brazil to play for Flamengo. Milan have moved to dismiss the speculation, with president Silvio Berlusconi insisting the 30-year-old will remain at the Serie A club, and new coach Allegri has identified him as a key player in the squad. "I think there are no doubts about Ronaldinho's technical qualities," said Allegri. "He's a sensational player who has quality on a world level, but in today's football not only technical qualities are enough. "It's necessary to build a balanced group and the strength of a team is that everyone must put himself at the disposal of the group to achieve a good result. "Ronaldinho is a player who can be dangerous either playing on the wings or in the middle. He has so many qualities that he can do the difference."

Expectations

Allegri says Ronaldinho is central to the Milan team, and has high expectations of him for the coming season. "He needs to have the support of the team, but at the same time he must put himself at the team disposal too," he added. "I've spoken with him only a little and I told him he's a really important player from who I expect a lot."
