Keeper out for five months with knee injury

Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury. The 30-year-old picked up the injury in training on Tuesday and scans have confirmed Fiorentina's worst fears that he has suffered a cruciate ligament problem. Frey is set to undergo surgery on the problem which is set to rule him out of action for five months at least. It means summer signing from Celtic Artur Boruc is set for an extended run in the side after recently threatening to leave the club in January after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities. Frey's injury is another blow for Fiorentina who are already without star attacker Stefan Jovetic for six months.
