Ezequiel Lavezzi believes Napoli have the potential to realise their most ambitious goals this season.

Napoli striker dreaming of title

Ezequiel Lavezzi believes Napoli have the potential to realise their most ambitious objectives this season. Walter Mazzarri's men finished sixth in Serie A last term and have started the new season in even more impressive form, surging to third in the standings. The likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma remain far bigger names in Italian football but Lavezzi feels Napoli can compete for the title. Asked whether they could win the Scudetto, the striker said: "Dreaming costs nothing. "Why shouldn't we aim to realise such ambitious objectives? "By now we are no longer a surprise package. All the other teams know that this Napoli are strong and in a position to realise any goal."

Napoli have had to combine their domestic duties with a Europa League campaign and their continental involvement could come to an end on Wednesday. Lavezzi is determined for that not to happen and hopes to be fit for the home game against Steaua Bucharest after missing Saturday's win over Genoa with an ankle knock. Napoli need to beat the Romanians to progress as Group K runners-up behind Liverpool. Lavezzi said: "I will do everything to be there against Steaua Bucharest. I care a lot about playing in this game because Napoli have the chance to continue their adventure in this competition."
