Rossoneri held by Catania

Serie A leaders AC Milan's title challenge was dented on Saturday after being held to 1-1 draw by Catania at the Stadio Massimino. The result maintains Catania's challenge for a place in Europe next season while giving second-placed Juventus renewed hope in the title race. Robinho gave the Rossoneri the lead in the 35th minute before Nicolas Spolli levelled for the hosts in the 57th minute. With no further goals, but plenty of controversy, the result lifted Catania to within a point of sixth-placed Roma while Milan extended their advantage over Juve at the top of the table to five points with the Bianconeri hosting Napoli on Sunday night. Lazio remain in third spot following a 3-1 defeat to Parma at Stadio Ennio Tardini. The damage was done early on courtesy of goals from McDonald Mariga and Sergio Floccari. Substitute Lionel Scaloni reduced the arrears before half-time, but the home side restored their two-goal lead in the 72nd minute though Floccari's second. The victory moves Parma a healthy eight points clear of the bottom three in Serie A.
