The 23-year-old, who has been at the Udine-based outfit since 2010, said on Wednesday that he wants to play for a bigger club, claiming that Fiorentina and Roma are interested in him.
"I want to leave Udinese and a transfer to a new club could help me a lot," he told El Tiempo.
"Several offers have come for me and I hope that something will materialise. Fiorentina and Roma are the clubs who are closer to me at the moment."
Muriel's agent Helmuth Wennin backed his client and confirmed that both the Italian clubs want to sign Muriel.
"It is true that the Viola and the Giallorossi are interested in Luis," he told Tuttomercatoweb. "But right now I think it's a bit too early to talk about any transfers."
However, Giaretta has now stated that he has spoken to the Colombia international, who, he insists, will continue to play for Udinese.
"I spoke to Luis yesterday (Wednesday) and he is very happy to play at Udinese," Giaretta told Laroma24.it.
"I can confirm that there are no negotiations open for Muriel and that he will remain at Udine next season."
