There was also relegation drama throughout the leagues, with Villarreal dropping out of La Liga after a surprise plummet down the table.
Montpellier closed on the Ligue 1 title in France, while Gary Hooper was a five-goal hero for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

Villarreal suffered a
final day to forget after a 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid sealed their shock relegation from La Liga, with Falcao netting a late winner for the hosts.
At the other end of the table, Malaga secured the final UEFA Champions League spot with a 1-0 victory at home to Sporting Gijon, staving off the threat of Atletico Madrid and Levante.
Champions Real Madrid reached a century of points as they signed off their triumphant season with a home win over Real Mallorca, with Mesut Ozil netting a brace, while outgoing coach Pep Guardiola's

Italian champions Juventus smashed AC Milan's record of 42 matches unbeaten as they
finished their undefeated campaign with a 3-1 triumph over Atalanta.
The win marked Juve icon Alessandro Del Piero's final game for the club and he crowned it with a goal as he bid an emotional farewell to the Old Lady.
Another goodbye came in AC Milan's 2-1 win over relegated Novara as veteran striker Filippo Inzaghi ended his Rossoneri career in style with a late winner off the bench.
Udinese cemented a third-place finish and secured UEFA Champions League football after beating Catania 2-0, while Lecce's relegation was confirmed after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Chievo.

Montpellier are
on the brink of Ligue 1 glory after snatching a last-gasp victory over Lille, with substitute Karim Ait-Fana poaching a 94th minute winner.
The win means Montpellier lead Paris St German by three points with one game remaining after the capital club beat Rennes 3-0 at home, with Nene notching a hat-trick.
Rock-bottom Auxerre's survival hopes were snuffed out after they were beaten 3-0 at mid-table Marseille.
