Lazio refute Stankovic rumours

LAZIO have rubbished reports that they have agreed a deal to sell Dejan Stankovic to Serie A rivals Internazionale.

Reports in Italy claim that Lazio have agreed to sell the midfielder to Inter when the transfer window reopens in January rather than risk losing him for nothing on a free transfer in the summer.

Lazio are keen to keep the Serbo-Montenegrin midfielder and have been locked in talks with him about extending his stay at Stadio Olimpico.

"I haven't sold any player to any club," said Lazio's chief officer Luca Baraldi. "There isn't even an agreement in place."

Other reports have also suggested that Lazio were keen on signing on Inter striker Alvaro Recoba, but Baraldi has also refuted these suggestions.

"He is a great player but we'll have to wait and see," added Baraldi.

"After all, we already have four valid attackers at this club."
