The former Milan captain has responded to reports linking his former club with Internazionale centre forward Christian Vieri, by offering the names of Bazzani and Bonera as more realistic targets.
Bazzani, a physically strong centre forward who has been in excellent form for Sampdoria this term, has been identified as an ideal target for the European champions.
''In my opinion, Milan need a player like Bazzani,'' Baresi said.
''His strength would be very useful, especially when we play home games against smaller clubs with a catenaccio defence.
''It would give us different solutions in the box.''
One man who Baresi believes is not heading for the Giuseppe Meazza is Monaco forward Dado Prso.
The player's agent has previously suggested that his client was being earmarked for a move to Milan, but Baresi feels the club would more likely pursue a younger alternative.
''Prso and Bazzani have very similar features, but I guess the club would rather move for the younger of them and the more accustomed to the Italian league.''
Having pinpointed Milan's forward targets, Baresi also believes the club could be in the market for a defensive lynchpin.
Lazio's Dutch stopper Jaap Stam has been linked with the club this season, but again Baresi predicts the club will be pursuing more youthful alternatives.
''Stam is a great defender and I would have signed him three or four years ago,'' Baresi admitted.
''But, right now, I feel Milan need a younger defender.
''We already have three veterans in the back-four, like Maldini, Costacurta and Cafu.''
Baresi is currently enjoying his role as Milan's youth team coach, following a brief spell as Fulham's director of football.
However, the former Italy skipper is keen to reiterate that his young charges are not quite ready for the rigours of a Serie A season.
''We are making long-term projects and I don't want my players to have illusions,'' Baresi conceded.
''The fact that Ignazio Abate has already made the first team was quite a flattering surprise.
''Although I am happy he is rising so fast, it takes time to fit into a big team like Milan.''
