Baggio has been rewarded for yet another fine season at club level with an Azzurri swansong against Spain on Wednesday.
Trapattoni had vowed to select the Brescia forward for the friendly in Genoa and the match has proved to be a sell-out.
Joining Baggio in the squad is Sampdoria midfielder Diana, who has been drafted into the Azzurri set-up for the first time in his career.
The coach has named a 21-man squad for the tussle with fellow Euro 2004 contenders Spain but is missing several key names.
Francesco Totti suffered a muscle injury in Roma's win over Empoli on Sunday while Alessandro Nesta is absent due to an ongoing rib complaint.
Internazionale goalkeeper Francesco Toldo is unavailable while Antonio Cassano and Alessandro Del Piero are still returning to match fitness.
Trapattoni is also without Filippo Inzaghi due to a foot injury while his Milan team-mate Giuseppe Pancaro will miss Euro 2004 with an Achilles problem.
