Davids to announce destination

Edgar Davids is going to announce his next destination within a week, with fresh speculation in both Italy and Spain indicating that a Premiership offer is still on the table for the Holland midfielder.

The energetic Dutch star performed tirelessly during his country's exit from Euro 2004 at the semi-final stage to hosts Portugal and is now prepared to make a final decision on his future.

Barcelona were favourites to clinch his signature after his arrival helped propel Frank Rijkaard's men up the table last term, but the loan deal will not be made permanent after the player failed to meet a deadline set by president Joan Laporta to agree to the switch.

Internazionale are at the head of queue of interested parties, but rumours persist that a mystery English club is willing to offer Davids a lucrative salary.

"I'll clear up my future in about four days' time," said Davids.

"But who said I will go to Inter for sure?

"Within four days, I'll make an announcement about my future and then we will talk again about it."
