The 22-year-old Sparta Prague central defender was expected to join one of the more fashionable leagues in Europe, but Shakhtar have now moved to seal a deal for the Euro 2004 squad member.
Hubschman is the second Czech player to join in the last month after Shakthar also secured the services of goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka from champions Banik Ostrava.
Shakhtar have also snared Brazilian Joao Batista from Galatasaray on a three-year deal.
He is the second Samba midfielder to arrive at the club this summer following Matuzalem's arrival from Brescia.
Romanian defender Cosmin Barcauan has also signed for them on a five-year deal, while their move for Internazionale's Mohammed Kallon remains incomplete - despite the fact he has had a medical with the club.
